Best Buy Black Friday 2011 Deals for AT&T Phones Announced

Getting into the Black Friday spirit, AT&T has announced some of its deals for the weekend after Thanksgiving, including a lineup of popular smartphones for … a penny.

AT&T isn’t saying much about its offers for Black Friday itself, only that touchscreen devices, including tablets, will start a “unbelievably low prices.”

But those looking to get a Windows 7 phone can grab them on Saturday, Nov. 26, for one cent. On what has been called Cyber Monday, the company will also be offering the Motorola Atrix, Samsung Infuse, BlackBerry 9810, HTC Inspire and LG Thrill for a penny.

The phones, of course, require a two-year contract commitment with a voice plan and a minimum data plan of $15 a month.

AT&T is also offering its deal-obsessed customers e-mail and text alerts about their Thanksgiving holiday sales.

Many customers will be taking advantage of their smartphones to do their shopping, and retailers are adjusting their offers to appeal to that group. As Hayley Tsukayamaexplained:

This year, holiday shoppers are expected to turn to their smartphones more than they ever have before. That’s the takeaway from a study by mobile ad network InMobi, released Thursday.

According to InMobi’s survey, 60 million mobile users will shop on Black Friday using their smartphones and 21 million intend to purchase goods directly from their mobile devices. That number is even higher with the more tech-focused Cyber Monday shoppers — the survey found 42 percent of shoppers plan to use their mobile devices to shop for gadgets and electronics.

More generally, smartphones have become an indispensable tool for holiday shoppers who are using them more often to compare prices and read reviews in stores. According to the study, 45 percent of shoppers will use their phones for price comparisons while shopping, up from 22 percent last year.
