Black Friday 2011: Which Store is Open on Black Friday 2011?

Let the midnight madness begin!  Retailers around the country are gearing up for the busiest shopping day of the year – Black Friday.  But instead of waiting until “normal” hours of 5:00 or 6:00 A.M., many retailers around the nation are kicking off Black Friday at midnight – Black Midnight.

Retailers are kicking off the holiday season with a slew of early sales, steals-and-deals and bottom-dollar prices in order to compete for those hard-earned dollars.   With millions of Americans out of work, retailers are pulling out all the stops this season.  With so much uncertainty and anxiety about the state of the world’s economy, retailers are worried.   But according to Deloitte’s annual shopping survey, 68 percent of shoppers will change the way they shop to save money.

The National Retail Federation estimates a whopping 152 million people will shop this year during the three-day holiday weekend.   Why not avoid the crowds and hit the stores early this season?

Stores Participating in Black Midnight 2011

Target, Best Buy, Kohl’s, Macy’s and Bergner’s will open their doors at the midnight hour to kick off Black Friday 2011.  Bergner’s is offering 500 Door Busters at midnight.

Some Banana Republic, GameStop, Gap and Old Navy locations will also open at midnight.  Old Navy is even giving away a “free” Kodak EasyShare Waterproof Digital Camera bundle – valued at over $100 – with a $40 purchase.

Stores Opening Before Black Midnight

And if that isn’t early enough for the die-hard discount shoppers, some retailers are even opening earlier than midnight!   Some stores are open most of Thanksgiving Day!  While shoppers may welcome the news, some store employees are not as happy.   It’s Thanksgiving, after all.

  • Toys R Us is opening at 9:00 on Thanksgiving evening!
  • Walmart will have several different events at different times beginning at 10 P.M Thursday.

It is important to note – not all retailers may participate in the special hours/sales listed above.  Please call ahead, check your local retailer’s website or newspaper for specifics in your neck of the woods!
