Stores Opening Midnight Thanksgiving Day Today

A lot of shoppers are excited on the upcoming Black Friday 2011 on November 25, 2011. Some retailers have announced that they’ll be opening their stores for shoppers as early as 12 midnight on Black Friday, as opposed to last year’s Black Friday opening at 4am. With this early opening time, some termed this coming Black Friday 2011 as Midnight Black.

Macy’s, Kohl’s, Target and Best Buy will open at midnight to capture the most shoppers possible on Black Friday. So instead of shoppers rushing into stores at 4 a.m., they will likely be heading home at that time.

Last year, nine major retailers, from Kmart and Sears to Gander Mountain and Walgreens, took the sacrilegious step and opened on Thanksgiving to capture most Black Friday shoppers. ToysRUs wasn’t open during the day, but started its Black Friday sale at 10 p. m. on Thanksgiving.

This year, Toys R Us, which has previously opened on Thanksgiving to start Black Friday sales, will open at 10 p.m. Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills is planning to open at 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

Now that midnight openings are going mainstream, it’s a good bet that it won’t be long before it’s commonplace for even more stores to open on Thanksgiving.
